MihaiDOBRE ⛶ architecture&design

The studio was founded by Mihai DOBRE in response to growing demand for its distinctive design aesthetic and ingenious use of material detailing in the context of architecture and interior design. He adopts a personalized approach for each client, rich in intellectual rigor and creativity, to create inspiring places with a strong visual impact. Through a process of research and experimentation, carefully selected materials and crafted details are utilized, contributing to the creation of unique and beautiful spaces.

We work closely with clients, consultants, contractors and manufacturers to create finely executed spaces that enhance the end-user experience. Our work ranges in scale from architecture and interiors to lighting and furniture, with a strong implementation of computational design and digital mastery. Our projects integrate multiple perspectives through interdisciplinary collaboration, leading to exciting and innovative applications for clients and users. Our design process is an investigation that incorporates the use of evolving design technologies, enabling a new dimension of possibilities. At the same time, we are strongly committed to a hands-on approach that allows us to understand problems at multiple scales and test our ideas immediately

BIOGRAPHY

2007

TECHNICAL DRAWINGS AND CAR DESIGN

At the beginning of his career, Mihai DOBRE focused on technical drawings and later on automotive design, using computer-aided design (CAD) technology. In 2007, he started his studies at the University of Architecture in Bucharest.

2010

INTERIOR AND PRODUCT DESIGN

Mihai started collaborating with architects in Bucharest, managing various heritage restoration projects, and in his hometown, Pitești, he initiated collaborations with local architectural studios as interior designer for luxury hotels and restaurants. During this period, his passion for interior and product design grew. Inspired by organic, minimalist styles and the beginnings of parametric design, Mihai designed, in the following years, various wooden furniture and accessories concepts.

2011

3D CAD CAD MODELING AND VIRTUAL REALITY

He obtained a license to operate at an advanced level Autodesk (3ds Max and AutoCAD) and Graphisoft Archicad software, with which he developed a collection of design products. At the same time, he started studying the first virtual reality (VR) technologies to create simulated experiences for his projects.

2013

CNC PRODUCTS AND PROTOTYPES

Two years later, together with his best friend and college classmate, he founded his own workshop. It has thus produced small-scale concepts in recent years using CNC woodworking and plastics processing equipment to the highest quality standards. In the years that followed, he launched various collections of lighting fixtures, wall clocks and customized furniture.

2014

MASTER IN ARCHITECTURE

Mihai graduated from the Faculty of Architecture in 2014. His undergraduate project, "Marina Gardens - Urban Hotel in Singapore", is probably his most complex architectural project to date. This project is strongly influenced by the parametric concept, the architectural style that Mihai talks about in his dissertation "Parametricism in Architecture". Patrik Schumacher and Moshe Safdie are among the personalities who have inspired him.

2015

DESIGN DIRECTOR - ROCHE BOBOIS PARIS

The "MihaiDOBRE | Architecture and Design" studio was established. At the same time, an exclusive collaboration has been initiated with Roche Bobois Paris, an international luxury furniture retailer that has opened its first showroom in Eastern Europe in Bucharest. Mihai held the position of Design Director in this company, creating some of the most spectacular interior design projects in the following years.

2019

NETVERS PARTNERSHIP

The studio has launched a strategic partnership with the NETVERS group. Among the most important services offered by NETVERS companies are high quality digital graphics and luxury furniture production. Providing a production line to the highest European standards, equipped with modern CNC equipment, they have developed, together with MihaiDOBRE studio, new collections of premium design products, internationally awarded.

2023

MD QUADRA

In 2023, we proudly opened our new office in Bucharest, located in an ultra-central historical monument building in the artistic district on Semicercului Street. The space has been carefully designed, combining modern elegance with sophisticated, bespoke details. The office is a testament to Mihai DOBRE's visionary and meticulously curated aesthetic.
